At Paradigm Consulting Group, our Saskatchewan Social Committee is at the heart of our culture—a driving force behind fostering connections, encouraging participation, and building memories that go beyond the workplace. In 2024, we embraced creativity, competition, and camaraderie through a variety of events that showcased the diverse and vibrant spirit of our community. This year, Paradigmers across Saskatchewan came together to create memories that will last a lifetime. Here’s a look back at our year, filled with laughter, learning, and fun!
Why We Have a Social Committee
The Social Committee’s mission is simple yet impactful: to create opportunities for Paradigm employees and Associates to connect in meaningful ways. Through engaging events, we strengthen relationships, celebrate our shared culture, and bring a sense of joy and belonging to our workplace. We try to host one event per month – with a variety of locations, activities and interests in order to appeal to as many of our team members as we can. So let’s kick it off, and learn about all the FUN we had last year…
1. Dress Your Pet Contest (January)
Led by our People & Culture Manager Janna Laevens Alaric , this contest was a hit, featuring 9 dogs, 4 cats, and… a shrimp! Who knew our furry (and not-so-furry) friends could be so fashionable!
Chilli Cook-Off (February)
Led by Tracy Polis, PMP, PRINCE2 , this event brought the heat—literally and figuratively! Team Mirchi cooked up a winning vegan chili that wowed everyone. The afternoon ended with a delicious lunch and beautiful custom-made prizes for the winners.
Leap Year Bowling (February)
Bowling, bingo, and belly laughs! Christelle O’Connor, CMP, CTMP, PRINCE2, RPR, SSYB added a fun twist with challenges like bowling “granny style” and using the wrong hand. The camaraderie was as strong as the strikes. Would you dare to bowl with your eyes closed at our next bowling event?
Awards Evening (March)
This night of recognition celebrated the achievements and contributions of our talented Paradigm team. From heartfelt speeches to awards for excellence, it was an inspiring evening. Paradigm is proud of the retention of our team, and each year we gather together to recognize significant achievements, such as 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 and even 30 years with our organization!
Smile Cookie Day (April)
Sweet treats for a great cause! Led by one of our work experience interns, Shireen Li, this event supported Tim Hortons’ national campaign, raising funds for local charities in Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
NHL Fantasy Playoffs (April)
Hockey fans rejoiced as Matt LeBlanc led this fan-favorite event back from hiatus. From creative team names to nail-biting rounds, this was a fun way to hockey fans and non-hockey fans to be involved in NHL playoffs with prizes for the the winners!
Red Sox Game (May)
Take me out to the ballgame! Sheryll Inkson, CPA, CMA organized this outing, where Paradigmers and their families cheered on the Regina Red Sox. Despite the team’s close losses, the group’s energy was unstoppable.
CFL Pride: Show Off Your Colours (May)
A great event to celebrate the CFL season by Jennifer Werner This event brought out Paradigm’s sports pride and our annual rivalry between our Saskatchewan and Manitoba offices…
Virtual Scavenger Hunt (June)
Despite being held virtually, this event turned participants into adventurers! From vintage photos to quirky selfies, our teams embraced the hunt with enthusiasm!
Lawn Bowling (August)
This event might be a new favourite here at Paradigm! The summer vibes were unbeatable, and the friendly competition brought everyone closer while most were learning a new sport in a relaxing environment. And to top it off, one of the famous Saskatchewan sunsets!
Paradigm Golf Tournament (September)
A tradition nearly as old as Paradigm itself, Duane Janiskevich revived one of our most cherished events, our golf tournament! First-time golfer Shivam C. stole the show, winning the “Closest to the Pin” challenge. The event culminated with a delicious steak supper and various prizes at the beautiful Sherwood Forest. It also marked the kick-off of Paradigm’s annual United Way campaign as our CFO Sheryll was set-up on the 9th hole to “putt teams in” who were willing to contribute to the United Way via donation!
Ugly Holiday Tree (December)
Many folks may remember your parent’s tradition of having an “Ugly Tree” at Christmas. You know, the one that gets set up in the basement and holds all of your “creative” crafts from school. We recognized that many people within Paradigm, and within our Path Cowork space as a whole, are celebrating many holidays that are special to them in the month of December. We wanted to come up with a way to showcase and celebrate these different holidays while also having a bit of fun! So we set up a tree and invited everyone in our office to add an ornament to start a new holiday tradition! Deanna Clark, a member of our Business Development Team – worked to design and 3D print a spooky star ornament with teeth for the top of the tree – truly one that must be seen to be believe! Eight companies from our Path office space joined the fun, showcasing ornaments that were as unique as they were festive. We are so fond of this tradition and are already looking forward to December 2025 when we can do it all over again!
Children’s Holiday Party in Regina (December)
Santa and Mrs. Claus made this event magical for families. This has become Paradigm’s biggest event with almost 100 attendees year after year. The Elves, Matt LeBlanc , Sheryll Inkson, CPA, CMA , Willow Brothen, BBA, BRMP and Tracy Polis, PMP, PRINCE2 made this event possible, while supporting local business’ to help fill Santa’s bag of gifts. Laughter, joy, and a unique, private experience at one of the gems in our city, the Saskatchewan Science Centre, plus a growing number of attendees made it a highlight of our social events.
Holiday Christmas Cheer (December)
We closed the year with a festive celebration, bringing everyone together to wrap up 2024 with warmth and joy.
